Montville Views Issue 1 Week 1 Term 1 2023
From the Desk of the Principal
Welcome to the 2023 school year!
We have started the school year with 109 students and I have been thrilled to see all of the students, new and continuing at school, learning and following our school rules of Caring for Themselves, Others and The Environment. It also was great to see so many parents and students helping out at our first working bee for the year. These working bees will be held throughout the year and all parents and students are welcome to attend.
This Friday we are holding our first assembly for the year. Assembly allows us to present awards and speak to the school community about what is happening in the school. As of next week, we will be trailing fortnightly assembly on a Tuesday afternoon from 2:15pm-2:45pm.
We have a number of opportunities for our students to develop their musical skills. All students participate in classroom music lessons and choir on a Wednesday with Natalie Proellocks. We are also very fortunate to be able to offer instrumental music lessons (brass, percussion, woodwind) and concert band ensemble for students in years 4-6 with Nathan Hill every Tuesday. We also have Matt Mikkelson teaching guitar, ukulele and drums and guitar ensemble on a Monday. Next term will be welcoming Anthony Aggs who will be offering piano lessons on a Thursday and Friday. If you are interested in your child learning an instrument, please contact the office on 54521333.
This Tuesday we will be holding class parent information sessions where the class teachers will outline what is happening in their classes this year. There are a number of session times (3:00, 3:20, 3:40) to cater for parents with more than 1 child at the school. The playground will be open and supervision will be provided for the students until 4pm.
Please remember that all student require a weather proof library bag, an art folder and headphones. All continuing students should have these. If your child requires any of these they can be purchased from the office.

Office update
Welcome back to school for 2023. It is great to see everyone back safe and well. Welcome to our new families and all our returning families. Student Resource Scheme invoices are due at the end of week 2, 03/02/2023. Please email admin@montvilless.eq.edu.au if you are paying in installments or would like to initiate a payment plan.
This year we are transitioning to electronic excursion notes for most of our excursions and activities. Please register for QParents to make sure that you don't miss out on permission and consent notes. Qparents is a great app that enables great functionality for all families.

Prep Update
Hello! This is our 3rd day of school, and we have had a fun, and exciting time. We are very tired, but we love learning.

Year 1 Update
Welcome to all our Year One families. We have had a wonderful start to 2023, the children have adjusted well to the new year one classroom and have been having lots of fun catching up with their friends.
We have been doing daily literacy and math activities, visited the library and investigated the day sky in science. PMP was a hit, the children enjoyed having a go at the different gross motor activities to build their upper body strength.

Year 2 Update
Hello and welcome to 2023 school year from the year 2 class. We have already been busy little bees looking into our HASS, English, HPE, Music, Technology and Maths units of work so far. It’s so lovely starting a school year with many familiar faces and getting to know some brand-new friends. I can tell this is going to be an awesome year!
Year 3/4 Update
Welcome back and Hi from 3/4.
It was lovely to see all the students in 3/4 coming back to school excited and happy to see their friends and their brand new classroom.
We have been busy over the last few days organising our books and equipment and getting to know the fabulous new students in our class this year. Eben has settled in well and has quickly established some new friendships. April, Oscar, Delilah, Jesse and Oliver are busy getting to know everyone and learning more about their new friends too.
Thank you to our parents for giving the students in 34 a wonderful start to school by providing them with all the equipment and books they need for the new school year.
Looking forward to a great 2023.
Year 5/6 Update
The 5/6 class has had a fantastic start to the year. We have already been busy exploring our English unit and challenging ourselves with some fast maths. Mr Montgomery and I are looking forward to a fun filled Term One!
