Montville Views Issue 5 Week 9 Term 1 2023
From the Desk of the Principal
Welcome to a special edition of our fortnightly newsletter from our camp at Maranatha Tuchekoi. I am constantly impressed by the caring nature and kindness of the students here at Montville (and also their unwillingness to go to sleep straight away!!) It is times like this that I want to acknowledge the staff and volunteers of Montville School for going above and beyond to provide opportunities for the students to learn and grow.
Your Say Survey
2 weeks ago I sent out a survey and had 52 responses. I want to thank everyone who took the time to provide valuable feedback about their experiences with the school. We had a number of affirmations but also areas for improvement. I really want to stress that we need to hear about any concerns you have and it is essential that you share any concerns with us so they can be addressed.
Volunteers Needed on Wednesday
Our “Daily Rapid Reading” program will be starting again next term. This term we are chasing 2 volunteers to assist us on a Wednesday morning from 8:45-10:45. If you can help us with this program or want some more information please get in touch.
Assembly
Following consultation, we will continue to hold assembly on a Tuesday fortnightly next term however the playground will now be open for free play until 3:00 on a Tuesday following assembly.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for making Term 1 a positive start to the 2023 school year and I look forward to your continued support.
Regards
Adam

Year 1 Update
The year 1 students have been working hard on their comprehension and responding to the text, BIG Rain Coming. We have been amazed with their famtastic writing skills- great job year 1.
Maths has been a lot of fun collecting data, analysing and representing the results. The students loved questioning peers to work out what is their favourite ice-cream and fruit.
After a week of collecting the most popular fruit we discovered grapes are the go to for fruit break.
Our landscape diaramas have been a hit during science and everyone has done an amazing job.
Hang in there everyone Term 1 is almost over. Let's work together and finish strong.

Year 2 Update
The creative juices have really been flowing in Year 2 over the past couple of weeks as our budding little writers work towards completing their narrative writing task. After drafting a plan for their story, students used the Book Creator app to speak or type in their stories. We're now on to writing our final drafts. Watch this space!

Late arrivals /Early Departures
Late arrivals /Early Departures
It is a Education Queensland requirement that any student arriving late to school or leaving early is signed in or out through the office. If your child is getting to class after 9am they must sign in through the office. If they are leaving before the bell at 2.45pm they must be signed out through the office. Teachers cannot sign students in or out.
If students are being collected early they must be signed out by a person listed as an emergency contact on their school profile unless the school has been notified in writing of a casual person who may be picking them up. This can be by email or text.
By prior arrangement students can be waiting in the office to be collected. Students are not permitted to wait at the butterfly to be collected early, we have a duty of care to primary school students to make sure they are collected by an authorised person.
If you have an appointment to get to please allow enough time to attend the office and sign students out.
We will do our best to make the process as quick as possible.
Thank you for your support with this very important safety policy.
