From the Desk of the Principal
Welcome to another busy fortnight at Montville State School. Where we care for ourselves, Others and The Environment.
This fortnight we are focusing on the expectation that we “Solve problems with words”. Our students do a fantastic job everyday interacting with each other however issues do come up from time to time
Solving problems with words can be a powerful tool for resolving conflicts, negotiating agreements, and creating positive outcomes. It is also crucial to choose one's words carefully, as the tone and phrasing can greatly impact the outcome of a conversation. With the right approach, solving problems with words can lead to meaningful and productive solutions, particularly in a school setting.
Small Schools Cross Country will be on this Friday. Mr Montgomery and Mrs Kelly will be taking the team to Mapleton. Students are to be transported by their parents however if your child requires a lift please let us know. We would like to wish all of our students the best of luck as they trial to be selected in the Small Schools Cross Country team-

Year 1 Update
The year 1 class have been learning about skip counting in 2,5 and 10's, we have had a lot of fun using different hands-on materials learning about these patterns.
There has been some great writing and drawing by the students when they have been discribing the character from the The Very Blue Thingamajig.
We are very lucky to have Mrs Beirton visit our room regularly, this allows students to build on their numeracy and literacy skill in small group or one on one setting.
PMP this term we will be practicing our athletics for our carnival later in the term. I am very impressed with the speed, strength and sportsmanship of the year 1 class. Well done year 1's.
The newly formed MSS Yr1 Hospital has created a lot of interest; everyone is enjoying being the doctor, receptionist or patient.

Year 2 Update
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our Year 2 students who’ve jumped back in with energy and enthusiasm. This term we’ve introduced weekly pre and post spelling tests and not surprisingly, the Year 2’s are showing great determination and persistence in trying to achieve their personal spelling goals.
This week we will finish up our first Maths unit on Telling Time, Seasons and Calendar work before moving on to Number Sequences. This term, we will also be exploring and creating various types of artworks, comparing characters in similar stories for preference, learning how external features help animals survive in habitats, discussing significant life events and so much more!
Finally, we are so happy to welcome Miss Baker back into the classroom in Week 4. From then, she and Mrs Lancaster will work together for a couple of weeks to ensure her transition is as smooth as possible.

Late arrivals /Early Departures
Late arrivals /Early Departures
It is a Education Queensland requirement that any student arriving late to school or leaving early is signed in or out through the office. If your child is getting to class after 9am they must sign in through the office. If they are leaving before the bell at 2.45pm they must be signed out through the office. Teachers cannot sign students in or out.
If students are being collected early they must be signed out by a person listed as an emergency contact on their school profile unless the school has been notified in writing of a casual person who may be picking them up. This can be by email or text.
By prior arrangement students can be waiting in the office to be collected. Students are not permitted to wait at the butterfly to be collected early, we have a duty of care to primary school students to make sure they are collected by an authorised person.
If you have an appointment to get to please allow enough time to attend the office and sign students out.
We will do our best to make the process as quick as possible.
Thank you for your support with this very important safety policy.
