Welcome to another (extremely busy) fortnight at Montville State School. This will be the final newsletterfor 2023.
Last night we held our Art Gallery and there are a still a number of events happening over the next 2 and a half weeks as we are celebrating a positive and productive 2023 school year.
Tomorrow we will be running our Transition Morning where our new Prep students will be coming to school. We will also be having a fun afternoon of colour and water play with MOTIV8 Sports.
Next week we have our 2023 Leaders elections on Monday, Awards and Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday from 1:30 and Graduation Dinner on Wednesday evening and next Friday our yr 6 students will be having their fun "Big Day Out" at Aussie World.
In the last week there will be our final assembly on Tuesday, our movie excursion to Nambour Cinemas on Wednesday 6 Dec and our whole school lunch on Thursday 7 - so much still left to do!
5/6 Markets
The 5/6 students have been working in groups on a small business. This Tuesday they will be setting up stalls to sell their products with prices ranging from $1 -$10. All students (and parents ) are welcome to come along, have a browse and buy a gift or 2. We would really appreciate your support!
Staffing
We have a number of staff that will be unfortunately leaving us at the end of the year. Leanne Clarke, Craig Caswell, Anna Robinson, Tracey Axelson and Nat Cronin all will be leaving the Montville State School community and I want to sincerely thank all of them for their hard work and for their collegiality. I want to assure Craig, Tracey, Anna and Leanne that they all will be sorely missed.
I am pleased to announce our new LOTE-Japanese teacher. Deanna Hatcher is an experienced and engaging teacher who is based at Narimba State School and will continue to provide LOTE lessons on a Thursday.
As you may be aware we also have a new class teacher Maryanne McKinnon commencing in 2024. Maryanne will be here at Montville meeting the students tomorrow and is very keen to catch up with as many members of the school community as possible. She has written a note for all of the Montville SS families below-
Dear Students and Families of Montville State School,
I am thrilled to become part of the Montville school community in 2024!
Together with my husband Christian, daughter Peyton (aged 12), son Soul (aged 11) and our two dogs, Missy and Cruz, we live on the range of the hinterland, near Kureelpa. My hobbies include, gardening, bushwalking, reading and going to the beach with my family and friends.
My hopes for our Year 2/3 class in 2024, is that we all make new friends and understand the importance of becoming a team which supports each other to achieve our best. Our classroom will be a place of happy, engaging and collaborative learning. We will create a wonderful team of learners and have a year of many exciting learning adventures, in a supportive, safe space in which all are welcome.
Parents, carers and families, please know that I strongly value the important partnerships between home and school. My philosophy is to teach holistically and regard the whole child, empowering them to grow in character and in mind. I welcome communication with you and look forward to meeting you all as we commence the new school year.
Merry Christmas and wishing you all a wonderful, safe holiday.

Enrolments for 2024
Enrol now for 2024!!

Late arrivals /Early Departures
Late arrivals /Early Departures
It is a Education Queensland requirement that any student arriving late to school or leaving early is signed in or out through the office. If your child is getting to class after 9am they must sign in through the office. If they are leaving before the bell at 2.45pm they must be signed out through the office. Teachers cannot sign students in or out.
If students are being collected early they must be signed out by a person listed as an emergency contact on their school profile unless the school has been notified in writing of a casual person who may be picking them up. This can be by email or text.
By prior arrangement students can be waiting in the office to be collected. Students are not permitted to wait at the butterfly to be collected early, we have a duty of care to primary school students to make sure they are collected by an authorised person.
If you have an appointment to get to please allow enough time to attend the office and sign students out.
We will do our best to make the process as quick as possible.
Thank you for your support with this very important safety policy.
Prep Update
The Prep year is almost over and our students are excitedly preparing for Year 1!
We enjoyed rapping up our work in the garden and the kitchen as well as challenging ourselves with the end of year assessments.
We have been busily preparing for the whole school art gallery and concert evening and we are excited to show off our work.
All the Preps would like to thank their parents and carers for their wonderful support throughout the year.
Year 1 Update
The Year 1's have been busy building their knowledge and understanding of money. The class shop has been a hit, the students love spending their $$ every Friday. Thank you for the shop donations; these deliveries get the kids very excited.
I am glad I am not eating the sandwiches the kids have been creating for Mrs Grinling to trick the cheeky seagulls. Yuck, they have come up with some disgusting ingredients and they are doing well putting them into their procedure writing.
Art Gallery & Concert is just around the corner, we have been creating some amazing art to share next week. Make sure you come and visit all the rooms next Wednesday evening. Thank you to our amazing Teacher Aides and Sammi for helping us get our art completed for this great whole school event.
Term 4 is almost over; we are looking forward to the remaining days of Year 1.
Miss Sheree
Year 2 Update
The year two students have been working hard on their Science project tasks looking into manipulating materials to serve a purpose. Here are some of them seeing if the materials they choose suited making a boat out of. Will they float?
We also harvested and pressed some beautiful flowers and leaves and made them into cards.
Year 3/4 Update
We were all very excited to showcase some of the work we have been doing this semester with you on Wednesday evening. We are all so very proud of our efforts in all areas and enjoyed finalising the last pieces of art and craft.
Thank you! Mrs Kelly, Ms Leeann, Miss Phoenix and Mrs Barker for helping us in so many ways in our classroom this semester, that I couldn’t possibly mention them all. We are all very grateful.
It has been an absolute pleasure to teach all of the students in grade 3 and 4 this year. We have had some awesome moments. We have all looked after each other and I am so proud of the way everyone has persevered through their assessments.
I have made some great memories.
Year 5/6 Update
Thanks for a wonderful year 5/6!
It has been great to finish it off with some sand and sun.
To our graduating 6's, we will miss you next year, best of luck in High School.
I look forward to welcoming many of you back again next year. Enjoy the holidays season!

Library
Firstly a huge THANK YOU to all the parents who supported Book Club this year. I have managed to purchase many books throughout this year for the library.
As we are nearing the end of the school year, next week will be the last time that the students will be borrowing from the library.
Please ensure your child has returned their books by week 9.
Any books that have been misplaced or not returned, you will be issued an Invoice for the amount owing for the cost of the book.
Enjoy the holidays.
See you next year.
