Montville Views Issue 16, Term 4 Week 3
From the desk of the Principal
Welcome to another fortnight at Montville State School. I am very excited to bring you our first edition of the Montville Views via Schoolzine. We are hoping you find it informative and easy to navigate.
This fortnight is a busy one! On Friday 21 October we will be holding our Open Morning where we welcome any prospective families to come and have a tour of the school. If youi know anyone that is considering enrolling their child here at Monvtille please let them know.
The P&C are holding a Trivia night on Friday 21 October. Parents and students are welcome to come along. The students will be supervised in the classrooms with craft activities, snacks and movies whilst the adults will be in the hall. THE P&C constitution states that a minimum of 6 general meetings are held throughout the year. At yesterday's meeting it was decided that instead of a regular P&C meeting in Week 7 there will be a P&C "get together" on the lawn beside the playground on Friday 25 November at 3pm. This would not be a formal meeting just a chance for families to connect, I would like to whole heartedly thank the parents that have assisted with the Montville SS P&C this year and look forward to an enjoyable afternoon on the 25th.
Next Friday we will be recognising the Day for Daniel. Students will wear red on the day and bring a gold coin donation that will go to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to assist them to educatate children and young people about how to stay safe in physical environments and online. We encourage all families to participate in the Walk for Daniel that morning and will be holding our own mini version at 2pm on our oval. All families and community members are welcome to join us.
On Wednesday 2 November we will be holding our final bike club for the year. Students are to bring their bikes and helmets to school and leave them at the bike racks on the oval.
Thank you all for your ongoing support
Regards
Adam Montgomery

The preps have been enjoying their first swimming lessons. We have been very lucky with the weather and love the heated pool.
The students have been doing some clay art and some very special weaving art is coming up. We are excited to show you these finished products at the art show in week 7.
We have the lovely Miss Chelsea joining us from USC who is doing her 4 week prac in the prep classroom. Welcome Miss Chelsea!

The year 1/2 students have been very busy! They have been learning about fractions, money, and graphs in maths, creating lovely pottery pieces in art, investigating properties of materials in science and procedure writing in English. Thank you, Mrs. O’Reilly, for bringing the ingredients so the children could make some Fairy Bread as part of our procedure writing activity!

Year 4/5 Update
The Year 4/5 class has had a great start to term 4.
We have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory during English. The kids are loving it. During maths we have been learning and playing games connected to 24 hr time, collecting data, fractions, factors, multiples and money problems. We have loved having parents helping in the classroom and kitchen, thank you for your time. Pottery was hit, we are looking forward to seeing what our creations look like after they have been fired.
Our first week of swimming went very well and everyone had a fantastic time.
