Montville Views Issue 17, Term 4 Week 5
From the desk of the Principal
Welcome to another fortnight at Montville State School. We are starting to count down until our Art Gallery and Concert Night and have welcomed a number of artists into the school to work with every class. It has been exciting to see the students producing a variety of different pieces of art and they are very excited to show them off at the Art Gallery on Thursday 17 Nov.
Yesterday we held our last bike club for the term and all the students had a great time showing off their cycling skills. I want to thank Pete, Andrew, Sharon and Simon for giving up thier time to ensure the students have a challenging circuit to master.
Tomorrow we will be recognising Outdoor Classroom Day. I am hopeful that the weather stays nice and fine as the students will be working outside on a variety of activities including bush critter making, damper making and outdoor games. We will also have a special assembly on the oval if the weather permits.
Once again we seem to have had an outbreak of the dreaded headlice across a number of classrooms in the school. I want to thank Nat from the Montville Pharmacy for donating a number of headlice treatments to the Montville School community. Please see Melissa in the office if you require some to treat your child.
As we approach the end of the 2022 school year we are starting to confirm our enrolment numbers so we can best plan our class structures and staffing requirements for the 2023 school year. If there is a chance that your child will not be returning next year or you know of potential enrolments could you please inform the office on 54521333 .

Student Welfare Corner
In week 4 and 5 we have been focusing on the value “Care for Self” and applying this to understanding our friendship groups. We have been learning about feelings and strategies that we could use to help us get along with others. It is lovely to see students engaged and having a go in the weekly lessons.
Playgroup
A reminder that playgroup is on every Friday from 9 am – 10:30 am in the hall. Everyone is invited. Come along for a cuppa and say hi. It is a very relaxed environment.

Headlice Alert
As the weather warms up you may notice that Headlice becomes more prevalent. Ensure you check your childs hair frequently for lice and eggs and treat accordingly.
If you do find headlice in your childs hair please let us know so that we can alert other families in that class. Don't worry it is completely anonymous.
Natalie Lindner has provided the resource to the left which will help anyone who treats their child for headlice. For more information please see the link below.

Volunteers
Good morning,
Sunshine Coast Council is seeking your assistance in promoting a research survey we are conducting into volunteering on the Sunshine Coast. We are keen to hear from both volunteers and non-volunteers through this survey.
Volunteering is critically important to the region. Recent data suggests that volunteer numbers are decreasing, and Council and UniSC are partnering to understand the reasons and how we can encourage more people to volunteer.
The survey is for people over 18 only (due to ethics approval) and will close on 15 November 2022.
We will also be hosting an all ages Volunteering Forum on 7 December 2022 at UniSC. I encourage anyone especially students, who are interested in contributing to this discussion to register their interest here.
