Community Announcements
From the desk of the Principal
Welcome to our final newsletter for the 2022 school year. I was so proud to celebrate a positive year at yesterday's Award and Graduation Ceremony and to see our graduating class of 2022 speak so articulately about Montville School and about their teachers and classmates. From the start of the year where we had to postpone the start of the school year by 2 weeks and also cancel a number of events due to the weather I am very pleased with the positive and productive school year. In order for this to happen it requires all members of the school community working together. I want to say a sincere thank you to the staff, the P&C and all the volunteers that have contributed in making Montville SS a positive and dynamic environment for our students
Staffing Changes I am very sad to say that we will be losing a number of amazing staff members at the end of this year. Mrs Leanne Clarke, will not be continuing as our Prep Teacher Aide and Mrs O'Reilly and Miss Kristen will be returning to Eudlo SS in 2023. I want to sincerely thank these wonderful people for the energy and enthusiasm they brought every day to support the Montville Students.
Miss Carter Retirement
Following over 45 years of service to Education Queensland Leigh Carter handed her paperwork in to retire at the end of the school holidays. I want to thank Leigh for her time and dedication to the students of Montville State School since commencing here in 2013 and assure her that she will be sorely missed.
Free Art Workshop
Come and create your very own Bush Critters, with Tracey Lewis, at our free children’s workshop at the December Montville Markets on the 10 December at 8am -All Welcome!
Student Welfare Corner
In week 6 and 7 we focused on both values “Care for Self and Care for Others” and applying this to working as a team. We learnt about good ways to disagree and explored the qualities of team work. Students had a go at some team work activities.
In week 8 and 9 we are focused on becoming confident, resilient and adaptable. Lastly week 10 we will be developing reflective practice. Students will reflect on what they have learnt about themselves from a range of experiences at home and school.
World Kindness Day
World Kindness Day was on Sunday the 13th of November. World Kindness Day is a global day that promotes the importance of being kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world. Discuss what kindness means with your family.

School Holidays and Christmas
It has been a privilege to meet new people and offer support where I am able, hopefully making a positive difference in their lives. I wish you a lovely, restful and festive school holidays and Christmas.
Here are some tips from KIDS Helpline to have a relaxing break
- Most importantly remember that it is a time for celebration, reflection and relaxation.
- Keep things simple – share the responsibilities so no-one feels the pressure to do all the work.
- If you are having financial difficulties reach out to support agencies and ask for help. They know some people are doing it tough.
- Create a chill out space. If there are lots of people over allow for people to get away from the crowd.
- Christmas time is about giving and sharing. If buying gifts has become too expensive, maybe decide to donate an amount or time to a charity instead.
- If it becomes a little too much talk to someone. KIDS Helpline is free and confidential for young people aged 5 – 25 years (1800 55 1800). Parents or careers can call Parentline on 1300 30 1300

Lost Property and misplaced belongings
We have a lot of lost property and misplaced belongings!!!! Some are very distinctive and I am sure they are missed.
Please check through the boxes over the next few days as anything left here at the end of the term will be donated to charity.
We also ask that you check your childrens belongings carefully to make sure they are yours. It may be that your child is wearing someone elses hat or jumper so please check for names and labels over the next few days. We are happy to return them to their owners. It is costly to replace belongings and we appreciate your attention to this.
These can be costly to replace for families and it would be great if we could return belongings to their rightful owners.
Volunteers Morning Tea
It is always special to be able to thank the people who volunteer their time for our school. This week we held our Volunteers Morning Tea. Thank you to Agartha Butterworth and Cathy Kelly for organising the event.
A very big Thankyou is reserved for our volunteers, without you our school would miss out on a lot of very special things so a heartfelt thank you to you all
